Embroidery Process

The key to embroidery is digitizing.  This is the process of converting artwork into stitches or thread.  Although digitizing is done with technology, much of the embroidery process is done by hand.  Before sewing can begin, the desired thread colors are loaded into the machine.  The machine is then programmed by the operator to sew the colors in a certain order and at a certain speed; the machine is now ready for the garments.  In order for the machine to hold the garments, they must be put into a special hoop (embroiderers call this “hooped”).  Once the garment is done being sewed, it is taken off the machine and un-hooped, preparing it for the next step in the production process.  Embroidery can be done on many kinds of apparel or fabric and in a wide variety of colors.
